I painted this from up on the cliffs at the eastern end of the beach. The colours in the sea were particularly striking with a deep greyed-out purple in the distant deep water and a really strong turquoise where the sea ran shallow and the light sand showed through. I placed the standing figures and their reflections carefully to balance the picture and of course where you find waves there are surfers.
