In this painting I have used a very muted palette of greys and blues to suggest the atmospheric perspective of a hazy warm day. The edge of the quay and the angle of the upturned boat lead the viewer’s gaze into the picture and the sailing boat leaning against the quay wall with its warm colours provides an attractive focal point for the picture.
