The view is westward from Bantham beach with the tide almost out. Off in the distance is Burgh Island with its famous Art Deco hotel and ancient Pilchard Inn, which dates from 1336. When the tide is in, the island can be accesses only by the ‘sea-tractor’ - which ploughs its way through the waves and I have fond memories of taking my kids along for the ride when they were much younger.
