It is easy to romanticise the fishing industry of Beer but there is no doubt that the life of a working fisherman would have been hard and dangerous and probably relatively short and I cannot help but wonder how many of their wives must have stood at the top windows of these cottages looking out to sea, praying for their husband’s safe return.
