The view is towards the north, looking down on the village with the long beach of Slapton Sands curving off into the distance towards the cliffs below Strete. In the very centre of the picture I have carefully painted the tiny detail of the tank, which is such a poignant reminder of the tragedy that occurred at Slapton during the preparations for the D-Day landings.
